The story of Diving Sports is one of passion and growth.

What began in 2019 as a small online business operated by Ash and his wife from a basement in Ottawa, eventually grew into a 650sqft retail store in Port Coquitlam, BC, before expanding into their current 4,000sqft Vancouver location, now one of the largest and most modern dive shops in Canada.

Like many divers in Canada at the time, Ash — a lifelong freediver from Tunisia — struggled to find the gear he wanted. Seeing a lack of product choice and specialized expertise in the Canadian market, he and his wife decided to create a dive shop focused on high-quality equipment, fair pricing, and expert support for freediving and spearfishing.

After relocating to British Columbia and falling in love with its world-class cold-water diving, they opened Canada’s first dive shop dedicated to freediving and spearfishing in Port Coquitlam, BC. As the community embraced the concept, the business quickly grew. In 2022, Ash became a certified PFI Freediving Instructor, expanding Diving Sports’ mission from equipment sales to education and safe diving practices. The store later moved to Vancouver and expanded to serve the entire diving community.

From day one, Diving Sports aimed to modernize the dive shop experience. Inspired by leading outdoor retailers, they built a bright, organized, customer-focused store supported by a strong e-commerce platform and fast service.

Today, Diving Sports is proud to be one of Canada’s leading dive retailers and training centers, serving the full spectrum of underwater sports and thousands of scuba divers, freedivers, spearfishers, and snorkelers across Canada.
