Scuba, Freediving & Shore Clean-Up Events | Diving Sports Canada Vancouver
At Diving Sports Canada, we are passionate about protecting our local oceans, lakes, and shorelines. Our clean-up events bring together divers and ocean lovers to remove debris both underwater and along the shoreline—helping preserve the environments we explore.
Whether you're a scuba diver, freediver, or non-diver, these events are a great way to give back, meet like-minded people, and make a real impact in the Vancouver community.
What’s Included:
- Free participation in all clean-up events
- 1 unguided dive for certified divers
- Mesh collection bags provided for debris removal
- Free tanks and air fills for scuba divers
- 25% off all rental equipment
- Buddy pairing if you don’t have one
- Raffle prizes (fins, masks, gear bags, and more)
- Shore-based volunteer participation (no diving required)
Clean-Up Information:
- Location: 450 Stanley Park Drive – Vancouver Rowing Club
- Date: May 31st
- Time: 9:00 AM
- Open to scuba divers, freedivers, and non-divers
- Underwater and shoreline debris collection
Shore Volunteers: Non-divers play a key role in the clean-up effort. Shore-based volunteers will assist by receiving items collected by divers, sorting waste by category, and helping organize the cleanup area.
There is no cost to join this event. However, we will be collecting optional donations in support of Ocean Wise. Cash donations are welcome if you wish to contribute.
Prerequisites:
All divers must ensure they are medically fit to dive. Please review the medical form prior to registration:
- Freedivers: Intermediate certification required (PFI Freediver, AIDA 2, or equivalent)
- Scuba Divers: Advanced certification
- Minimum 10 logged cold-water dives
- Must have dived within the last 6 months
No buddy? No problem—we’ll pair you with another certified diver.
Equipment Rental:
We offer discounted rental gear for all participants:
- Free tanks and air fills
- 25% off all rental equipment
- Rental gear is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis
If you require equipment, please reserve early:
Drysuit rentals are available only for divers with valid drysuit certification and recent experience. If needed, refresher training or certification may be required:
Transportation:
Transportation from our shop to the dive site is available in our shop van (maximum 6 passengers).
- Seats are limited and first-come, first-served
- Please arrive 1 hour earlier if you require transportation

Protect Our Oceans – Together
Join Diving Sports Canada, the largest dive shop in Vancouver, our clean-up events focused on protecting local dive sites, shorelines, and marine life. These events are open to scuba divers, freedivers, and non-divers who want to make a real impact.
Participants remove debris from underwater environments and surrounding shorelines. Shore-based volunteers play a key role by helping collect, sort, and organize waste brought up by divers.
