Campbell River Weekend Dive Trip | 3 Days of Cold-Water Exploration
Join Diving Sports Canada for an incredible weekend of cold-water diving in Campbell River, located along the fast-moving waters of Discovery Passage. Known for its powerful currents, giant marine life, and vibrant invertebrate ecosystems, Campbell River offers some of the most exciting drift dives in the Pacific Northwest.
Marine Life Highlights:
Expect breathtaking biodiversity: giant Pacific octopus, wolf eels, nudibranchs, soft corals, kelp forests up to 65 feet, crimson anemones, and thriving invertebrate communities. These nutrient-rich, oxygenated waters produce marine life of exceptional size.
Who Is This Trip For?

- Divers with at least 30 cold-water dives and dives within the last 6 months
What’s Included:
- 1 shore dive in Nanoose Bay (Friday)
- 2 days of boat diving with Abyssal Charters (5 dives planned)
- 2 nights hotel accommodation at the Anchor Inn (double shared rooms)
- Transportation, ferry fees, dive guide
- 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner

What’s Not Included:
- Nitrox fills (available through the charter)

Diving in a Drysuit?
A Drysuit Specialty certification is required for anyone diving in a drysuit. Need it? Take the course before the trip: → PADI Drysuit Specialty
Requirements to Join:
- Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
- Minimum 30 cold-water dives
- A dive within the last 6 months
- Ability to manage high-current drift dives
Trip Flow & Meeting Time:
- Day 1 – 7:30 AM: Meet at Diving Sports Canada (4578 Main St). Load van & depart to Horseshoe Bay.
- 9:05 AM: Ferry to Vancouver Island.
- Afternoon: 1 shore dive in Nanoose Bay. Continue to Campbell River for hotel check-in & dinner.
- Day 2 – 8:00 AM: Meet Abyssal Charters for 3 drift dives. All meals included.
- Day 3 – Morning: 2 additional boat dives. Depart around 2:00 PM for the 6:30 PM ferry back to Vancouver.
Protecting Our Wildlife:
We follow Canada’s Marine Mammal Regulations. Divers must not approach sea lions or any marine mammals. A pre-trip presentation from a marine mammal expert is included. All participants must follow the “look, don’t touch” rule — violations result in being removed from further dives.

Packing List
Along with your regular items for a multi-day trip, here is the equipment you will need for this dive adventure:
- Basic Scuba Kit: Regulator, BCD, exposure suit, gloves, boots, hood, fins, mask
- Dive Computer (required for each diver)
- Dive Light (recommended)
- DSMB (required for each diver)
- Dive Camera (pics or it didn’t happen!)
